When I come across a blog post that includes a video I run like hell because for some reason if I give in to the temptation to click "play", there's always hell to pay. A browser issue perhaps, or it could be my antiquated computer, regardless, it turns into an experience that sends me reeling into bitch mode followed by a reboot, grrrr....
That's why I rarely post videos on my own blog. However this snippet of a documentary entitled "Let's Face It: women explore their aging faces" by Wendy Oser, Joan Levinson, Beverley Spence warrants an exception to that rule because it really hit home for me. If it doesn't hit home for you, you're not there yet, but if you're a woman pushing either side of fifty it should resonate.

I'm 4 years on the downside of fifty and I like where I am, who I am, and what I look like; if others don't ... well 'salute' 'em.
I've earned reaching this age and like wearing this face. I also like Maxine's spin on 'old age'. My place in life - such as it is (hahaha) is pretty good :-)

ReplyDeleteI was always so proud that the only lines I had were creases at my eyes at the sides of my mouth -- "smile lines." I might be aging, but at least there were positive indicators! Now there's a new furrow between my eyebrows, and my lips are starting to get those teeny lines that lipstick seems to be magnetically attracted to ... hmmm. Not likin' this! Nope, not likin' this at all ... :( (Good thing frowning on here doesn't give me any new evidence of decrepitude on my face!!!)
